Day & Night

Hey all!

Hope you are well and enjoyed my last two post from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, it was a really good week! School has resumed and I am back into the flow of HSC, my first week was okay cant say it was amazing but I have a really good feeling about this term!

Now onto the blog post

DAY & NIGHT

This is my day look I wanted to make the outfit have a causal feel, so I added a black crop top, and black and orange is a great colour bock combination. I really wanted to keep this simple I simply paried the dress with vans, which are a bit dirty excuse me, and then I added the crew cap for an edgy street wear feel. Although a very feminine alone I love that just adding a few bits (crop top) and bobs (vans) it takes on a tomboy feel. Who knew a formal dress could be dressed down so well!

Now here is a more formal outfit, as y'all can see in the first picture I kept things simple and just paired the dress with a gold plated belt. Adding the belt make the outfit more interesting and it also cinches in the waist. I paired it with a white blazer and this is perfect for a day time event and night time. Real talk though this dress makes me feel like a queen! I could probably walk into a board meeting for marie clare magazine and no one would second guess anything that came out of my mouth (ahaha)....too far ? Nah!

MBFWA Day Four

Hey all!

So on thursday I was meant to be going to an event called 'A day in Macquarie' which is a university (college) and I was just going to experience a day as a university student. My schedule consisted of me attending three lectures two on psychology and then on cognitive science, sounds exciting right. But honestly speaking I was very excited for the psychology lectures, I find it very interesting.

Any way I didn't end up attending that event, instead your home girl went to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! I went to the last day and I woke up feeling excited and hopeful for the day ahead. My dad dropped me off at Stephanie's house as we were going to drive there, once I arrived we realised that our other friend Georgia was not ready, I'm talking not dressed no breakfast and no shower, insert annoyed emoji face here. After Georgia got her life we head out!

The arrival was sweet, nerves were high and spirits too, optimism was also in the air. Once we walked into the area where all the photographers and some of the bloggers would hang around, from the minute we walked in the atmosphere seemed a bit flat. We decided to stick around for thirty minutes and if things didn't pick up we would head to an appointment the Steph had.

Thirty minutes later, nothing changes so we make like a tree and leaf.....I tried. We had the intention of coming back, hoping that things would have picked up. We decided to get some food and hit up subway which was fab then after that we headed to Steph's appointment. A solid thirty minutes of waiting Georgia and I grew impatient. Then an hour passed, then two, then three and at this point Georgia and I are so annoyed but it was when we looked to Steph who was so clam that I learned a great lesson, patience is key! Once the person she was meeting up with arrived Georgia and I felt so bad for being annoyed the person was so flustered, and had actually got lost while trying to get here and was miss directed.

When we eventually returned to Fashion Week, the mood was still flat and we decided after a very long day it was time to go home. Although things didn't work out the way we wanted, I learned that being patient really is key I wish some one had filmed our wait and Georgia and I were over it by the hour mark but Steph kept her cool.  I don't know I'm glad I had that experience don't want to relive it but I can say that if it does happen I'll know how to act accordingly. We did get to take pictures which is fab so here you go my lovelies!

MBFW Day Two

Hey all!

This time last year I was volunteering at fashion week and this year I decided to change things up and instead of volunteering I would go and interview people! I woke up feeling so excited, tired and nervous! I had no idea how people were going to respond to me asking them for a quick interview.

We are now about twenty meters from the venue and I started to get so nervous I turn to Stephanie (friend) and she is looking nervous too and we both started to second guess even going and she is now say okay lets just turn back and leave and I'm saying no lets go then it switches, it was quiet a scene for those that witnessed it, but none the less we eventually got our act together and walking in.

Once we were there we decided to just check out the scene see who we wanted to interview and also see what the vibes were like, the vibes are important. It took me a solid thirty minutes to approach some one and interview them, and once I started it got easier each time, Praise the Lord for that!

Overall the day went well,  I interviewed the Zac and Jordan Stenmark, Rachael Finch, Bella from BONES the blog and Rebecca from thefrontrowlife blog and many more groovy people! If you are interested in checking out the interviews be sure to check out my YouTube Channel ----> Massy's World and stay tuned for the release of the video.

Wedding Things

Hey all!

Hope you have been well, I am loving school holidays and have made the first week my 'break week' and I enjoyed it throughly but this week is back to the books and I have planned my week, which actually brought me a lot of joy. Might I just add these passed couple weeks I have been consuming a lot of Lipton black tea (decaffeinated ) and it is so good, nothing fancy about it and I think thats why I like it, its great to have any time of the day! Try it if you like. What tea do you enjoy drinking ?

Now onto the blog post!

Wedding Things

CEREMONY

On Saturday I attended a beautiful wedding, a South African marrying a Ghanaian. Weddings are great, of course they are hectic but its also lovely to witness two people coming together as one and also making a life long commitment is was great to be part of such a milestone in somebody's life.

Details: Ray Ban sunglasses Fossil watch Kleenex tissues, Baby Lips Lip balm, BlackBerry Z10, hand cream,  Sony a5000 Camera

As you can tell from the pictures Autumn has been very kind to us and we have a lot of sun (Praise the Lord). I wanted to wear something that was comfortable while looking classy and comfortable. Not having attended that many weddings in my life time, I'm always lost as to what I should wear.

I found his dress amongst my winter clothing?!? (ahah) But I'm glad I went looking. This is dress is a great day dress and I added the blazer to add a level of sophistication. Adding a black clutch that hold my wedding essentials and the black gold rimmed Ray Bans were a must as it was a sunny day, plus they give this outfit a touch of Sego.

RECEPTION

The reception called for a change in outfit, and I was appointed as an usher so I was required to wear orange.  I've owned this dress for two years and I this was my first time wearing it out, I like it but theres just always been something stopping me from wearing it, but it felt really great wearing it out.

I wanted to obviously stick to the dress code but I wanted to throw a bit of Sego into there right! So you know I had to throw on my cheetah print blazer and of course take it back to my roots and wear a traditional head piece. The reception was so good! I haven't had a good night like that in a very long time and it was so nice to be around South Africans! Made me want to go home even more! All in all I had a great time, so glad I went.

Everlasting Lashes

Hey All!

Hallelujah Jesus lives!! Hope ya'll had a grand Easter and that you were able to take some time to relax and reflect on why we celebrate Jesus' death. I am now officially on "holidays" and I've put it in inverted commas because my holidays will be anything but that I have assignments (emphasis on the plural!) university open day, wedding, job hunting and so much needs to be done in a short period of time. But I know I'll get through it all, by the grace of God!

Now onto the blogpost!

EVERLASTING LASHES

This blog post is a little different as it is centred around a beauty product that has given me lashes for days! Quick side note is that I don't really wear makeup, not for any specific reason just that it hasn't interested me. Yes lipstick has had the pleasure of gracing my lips and mascara my eyelashes but it is not a regular occurrence. But it must be known that my lovely mother has been not so discreetly  buying me make-up products for a very long time! She often buys me things when she is #feelingspendy and usually its a massive miss, but this time round she hit the jackpot.

Maybelline New York the Falsies Volum' Express Everlasting (waterproof)

Not having a lot of experience with mascara, but having seen a lot of people wear it I was able to compile a standardised list of expectations that I have for mascaras. The expectations are;

1. Visibly longer and thicker eyelashes
Is this not the point of mascaras? One thing that I've found with other mascaras that mamma Sego has bought me is that I have to apply two coat to see any visible changes, but with this Mascara all it took was one coat and I'm set for the day! Long eyelashes not only look great but also accentuate the shape of my eyes, also giving me greater validation when I batt my eyes to emphasis a point.

2.  Non-clumpy

Before wearing mascara I used to see a lot of older girls with clumped up eyelashes and I thought if mascara does that to my eyelashes then I don't want to use it, but each to his own right. This mascara doesn't come out clumpy on the brush and it coats my eyelashes evenly and doesn't stick them together. Another reason I absolutely love the fact that is doesn't clump, because I have a fear that clumps of mascara will fall into my eye once it dries (You think irrational I say 100% possible!!).

3.  Waterproof
No I don't cry often or unexpectedly, not that there is anything wrong with a good cry to let the emotions of the day, week, month or year out, or the beauty of tears of joy (hahaha). But honestly waterproof keeps you prepared for the unexpected and lately my eyes have been very watery, I have no idea why but this mascara had held on!

      4.    Light weight
Not sure if its because I’m not used to wearing mascara but I remember the first couple times I applied it I felt like keeping my eyes open was a work out, no lie I probably burnt a few calories. I realise that when you have mascara on you can feel it but it shouldn’t bother me. This mascara is great at that; I am not breaking a sweat with every 10 blinks but rather effortlessly fluttering my eyelashes.

Keeping my eyes open with ease (ahahaha)

    5.   Easy to remove
I’m particularly lenient with this fifth and final expectation, only if the first four are met though and that’s the case with this mascara. I know in the past I’ve struggled to remove mascara and it’s not fun, well my experience was not. This mascara is very much so waterproof, don’t make the silly mistake I did and try and use water to remove this mascara because that won’t work (hahahahah). I used coconut oil to remove the mascara and it worked very well (coconut oil works really well as a makeup remover).

Another great thing about this mascara is the brush. It's curved, making it easier to apply to the lashes and also acting as guide as to how your meant to apply the mascara for the best result, this is great for me as I'm still in the early stages of being a regular user of mascara so the assistance is appreciated.

I would highly recommend this mascara to those who are new to wonderful and often confusing world of make-up and to those who have been in the game for a while. I hope if you give it a try that you are left with long thick, non-clumpy waterproof, lightweight eyelashes!

Hope ya'll enjoyed this blog post and I really did enjoy writing this blog post a lot more than I expected to.
