Double Denim

Hey All!

Hope life is treating you well, I must say that if feels good to be free, I have gladly come out of my exam week feeling great, that was probably the best exam period of my life! My friend and I made it a priority not to stress ourselves out and Praise the Lord we stuck to that! Of course there were times when we would be like 'yep this exam is going to be lumpy' but we made it a point to be honest with ourselves while also putting things in perspective.

Now onto the blog post!

                                                  DOUBLE DENIM

This outfit is actually one of the coolest outfits my great mind had been blessed to come up with. When I put this outfit I was taken back in time to when my father sent a 10 year old Massy who was rocking cornrows and nike air forces and my 14 year old brother to buy flowers for mother darling. 

As my brother and I were leaving the florist we thanked her, she replied with 

'thank you boys' adding a sweet smile. My brothers sudden burst into laughter acted as no form of comfort to my mind which was going at about 100km per hour thinking HOW ON EARTH DO I LOOK LIKE A BOY ?! That comment continues to pop into my mind when I find outfits that are considered to be 'masculine', I get a good chuckle from it now but still find it a tad bit odd.

Double Denim is a risky move but it can either be amazing, which this outfit is or an absolute catastrophe which is Justin Timberlake's outfit to the 2001 American Music Award. This outfit has an androgynous feel, might be a stretch but I think it ties in perfectly with my short story at the beginning. I chose the dress as it creates this great contrast with its colour and length, the baggy ripped denim jeans are perfect for the 'boychic' look that I was going for.

Cheetah Crew

Hey all

Hope you guys are well and have had a killer week! Im in the midst of exams and I can tell you that its not that bad, praise the Lord for that! Last week I posted a video on my YouTube channel about staying positive click here to check it out! 

Now onto the blog post :)

                                                  Cheetah Crew

The blogpost is titled Cheetah Crew as the outfit evolves into a what is - 'Supreme'- due to these two items. The sporty crew cap and Luxe the blazer. This is a great outfit as I can wear it to any fashion event, dinner its different, comfortable and most importantly I love it.  This outfit was subconsciously inspired by Tommy Hilfigre's 2015 Fall (winter) Ready-To-Wear collection, which is funnily enough sporty Luxe I stubbled across it while in trying to scope what the fashion trends for winter would be.

 

Outfit details: blazer Sheike t-shirt secondhand high waisted denim secondhand shoes Miss Shop necklace Lovisa baseball cap Work 

Pairing a cheetah print blazer with a white t-shirt and high waisted denim shorts seems like a great idea but when I added the cap my first thought was "ummm what are you doing?" My mind was telling me no, but my body was telling me yes (ahah). Then you know I had to turn things up so I started posing in front of my mirror, BAM strike a pose BAm do it again! After that I was convinced that and this outfit was bomb, the hat adds an edge to the outfit, making it sporty but the cheetah blazer added that luxe feel and look. The heels did the obvious and elevated the whole look ;). Finding an outfit that appeals to me is hard Im at a stage where Im experimenting with my style and being #BRAVE!

Sporty Luxe has not been something Ive been particularly interested in, I've only seen one sporty luxe look that made me go 'okay, okay, okay I like what you're doing there' Im glad that I've now found an outfit that is different but me!

Effortlessly Cool

Hey all

This outfit is rather simple but, what makes it more interesting and gives it edge is the leather vest and leopard shoes. You can never go wrong with a leather vest, when I originally chucked this outfit on the leather vest hadn't crossed my mind until I opened my wardrobe and there it was patiently waiting for my arrival, and its moment of glory. (The clouds parted and the sun just started shining in all its glory as I wrote the last part of that sentence, coincidence?).   

You know I had to add a pop of colour to jazz it up a bit on top so the Lovisa earring did the trick, they are edgy too so they don't stray away from the look I'm going for. The Ray Ban sunglasses add mystery to the young lady behind the glasses. This outfit is easy going perfect for a day out shopping in the city for three key reasons 
1. Flat shoes mean I'll be able to window shop for longer ahah
2. Effortless 
3. comfortable

Its all about looking like you just threw your outfit together and created a masterpiece with minimal time and effort, while still looking chic.

Blast From The Past

Hey 

I sure you've noticed that the quality of my blog posts have changed. I've been thinking about it for awhile now and decided enough is enough I chucked a nike sign at my self and just did it ;) (ahahah). Im really excited for this year guys! This blog is going to be popping. Before a whole lot of awesomeness is thrown you're way I think its only appropriate to take a walk down memory lane, reflecting on some of my favourites blog posts.

Black and white OOTD

Oh gosh, I remember this was my very first post that featured pictures of me and I was so nervous about posting it. Looking back this outfit acted as a catalyst to me posting outfits of my own, despite the blandness of this outfit but hey you can never go wrong with a simple white tee and skinny black jeans. So thank you black and white OOTD for being the first outfit.

White T-shirt three ways 

Remembering the amount of joy I felt after writing the blog post for these outfits warms my heart. I remember feeling really proud this was a very big step for me,  I was starting to find my footing with my style. I also made a video featuring these videos click HERE to watch it. 

 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 

Walk walk fashion baby! Work Move that...  (I'm not going to finish the rest of the lyrics ahah). This was probably one of the highlights of 2014 going to Fashion Week my gosh was I inspired, this outfit is a testament to it. There was something about going to fashion week you leave, well I left feeling more inspired to be creative with my style and to #bebrave. 

I like it in the City, the City, the City 

This was a really groovy day! I went out with a good friend to celebrate the end of exams and it was so nice to get away and not have to think about pending homework or assignments or exams for that matter. This was one of my favourite outfits its rock chick/ cool trendy city chick ahah. What my hands are doing is a mystery to me. 

You're probably wondering why I have posted food, well to answer you question I am a lover of food and this meal happened to be a uphill journey to get quiet literally! I haven't enjoyed a meal they way I enjoyed that one ever since. It tasted heavenly or as my dad would put it 'this is the food they eat in heaven, specially prepared by angels' no lie thats what my dad would've said.

Whites Camera Action

Attending a fashion show was exciting enough but being given an all white dress code excited me even more! This is probably one of my favourite outfits that I have conjured up. This outfit is so stylish and chic it literally screams 'Classy, with a little bit of edge' well thats what I hear when I look at it. This outfit gave me so much confidence in myself, I was skeptical about it but I trusted my gut and went with it!

Lost In The World

Hey all! 

Hope life has been splendid thus far! Not sure why but I'm thankful that this past week has not been that great because it has opened my eyes to my foolishness (yes I just used that word).  I am at a point where things are looking good, I'm working hard and the results are showing. This past week I feel my self becoming deflated and stuck, with a clear direction of where I want to go but with out the certainty that I can make it. I have been going about things the wrong way, relying on my own strength to get me through. Looking at my goals and dreams its ridiculous to think I can do it by myself. Its people like Neo Pitso and Shameless Maya that have shown me that it can only be done with God. This post was inspired by and named after a track off of Kanye West's album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy....

This is the first outfit I put together since returning from my exchange trip in Sweden, almost a mark of me getting back into the groove of blogging, the song resonates with me as it signified the end of the 'rut' I'd been in I was now feeling inspired once again no longer 'lost', at least thats the way I heard it then. Now as I listened to it unintentionally last week I hear it as a direct example of where I'm headed, I have found myself becoming consumed, borderline obsessed with updating and keeping up to date with whats happening and without God doing all this(life) is tiring. Not looking to be so consumed that I become lost. I'm realising that is important to take a step back, smell the roses and also appreciate all that I've achieved, and to constantly make sure my priorities are set straight.

This post was a much needed reminder for me not to get lost in the world, to lean on God for strength, guidance for everything.
